Arik Braun won against Chao Li on the first board while David Howell won against Alejandro Ramirez. The two leaders have 6 points followed by Chao Li, Eltaj Safarli ,and Hou Yifan at 5.5 points.
In Girls section, Harika Dronavalli won against Guliskan Nakhbayeva to take the top spot before the rest day with 6 points. She is followed by Mariya Muzychuk and Adriana Nikolova.
With round 7 ends the first half of the World Junior chess championship. It was marked by many surprises and being a rating favorite seemed to be a disadvantage. However, the difference in the top 20 of the junior and girls sections is quite small, so the championship is wide open and anything can happen to the end.
